AfterPill is an emergency contraceptive pill that can be taken after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy. It contains levonorgestrel, a hormone that can prevent the release of an egg from the ovary or prevent fertilization of the egg by sperm. It is recommended to be taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex, preferably within 72 hours, but it may still be effective up to 5 days after. AfterPill is not intended to be used as a regular form of contraception and does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
